How to Develop Your GRIT

I am super jazzed this week!  We begin reviewing my TOP 10 Traits of High Performers which I have been anticipating for several weeks.

If you haven’t received your FREE copy of my TOP 10 Traits, you can enter in your name and email address here and it will be sent directly to your email.

This is a list I’ve been refining for months and is based on 2 decades of research and work with high performers in business, sports, and life.

We will review 1 a week for 10 weeks and by the end you will be thinking and feeling like a PRO.

In the first video, we review what GRIT is exactly, the new research showing how important GRIT is, and 4 ways you can develop your GRIT.

Here are a few things we cover:

  • Grit is having passion, perseverance, and purpose for your long term goals.
  • Gritty people know what they want to accomplish. I encourage my clients, for example, to set 1, 5, 10 and 20 year goals.
  • Gritty people are passionate about their long-term goals which provide them with a powerful source of motivation.
  • Gritty people know why they want to achieve those goals. They have a purpose and that purpose fuels them.
  • The research on Grit in the last few years has revealed some incredible findings.
    • Grit has been found to be positively correlated to Positive Affect, Happiness and Life Satisfaction.
    • Grit predicts teacher effectiveness, academic performance at elite universities, final rank in the National Spelling Bee, and retention at West Point.
    • Grittier sales employees are more likely to keep their jobs, grittier students are more likely to graduate from high school, and grittier men are more likely to stay married (that last one is my favorite findingJ).
